Class Reunion

Hi,
Thought you might like a quick update on our upcoming combined classes of '75 & '76 reunion plans, (Click the top download for a crystal clear picture of the card) . . .
Apologies from Last mailing: I sent the info from the last card I mailed to many of you - to mom to put on the news and in the paper(s), and she informed me that tickets must be ordered in advance. (That way they know how much food to prepare). Duh.

No worries: Laura Ann Feezel from the Alumni Comm. will be sending you each an order form to fill out. (You can order tickets directly from her, or tell her you need to pick them up at the door, if you decide at the last minute, like I do, sometimes), just as long as they know you're coming.

I'm sending out an updated mailer, in "snail mail.", with that info. You should get that, Mon. or Tues. (April 4-6th).

Next: For the 2nd Reunion date on July 30th - There is a technical issue to clear up, with calling it "City Park." You'll notice on this card I've amended it to say "Comm. Park." Also, the brown bldg is technically called the "Centennial Bldg". Mom and Daryl (from the Park Board), both helped clarify that for me.

Mary [Flowers] Martin and the Class of '76 committee have been working hard on the '76 class labels, as well as the planning of the July date. They've had several meetings, already, and have generously provided me with all their info as they get it. (Both classes are invited, as well).

BRIEF HISTORY: I Have been busy putting together our class reunion(s), since about Christmas of 2010. Some members from the class of '76 (See credits, below), had the idea of a combined reunion for both '75 & '76. I thought the idea a good one. We started the conversation on Facebook, back around Christmas, and it sort of took on a life of it's own. We also started a St. Elmo Class Reunion Page on FB, which has several members on it, now.

Class of '75: We've had a lot of people who have moved since our last [25 Year] reunion (held in 2000). I have been able to track just about everyone down (from both classes), except for the following people from my class:

- John Baird (somewhere in FL)
- Delilah Hopwood (not in St. Elmo phone book, any more)
- Barb [Logue] Overton (somewhere in IN)
- Vickie [Edwards] Pranger - (last known address in MO)
- Dennis Swinda (???)

Any info you can provide will be wholly appreciated.

Milestones: We've lost one class member that I know of, since the year 2000. Mike Hough passed away, back in 2000. His wife Debbie JoAnn Hough still resides in St. Elmo, and is a member of the class of '76. (Also incl. on this email list).

Previously, we lost Lewis Ross, not long after graduation, as most of you already know. His former wife, Peggy Jean Quint-Dunlap contacted me, about a year ago, inquiring about any info, memories, or former friends of Lewis'. I will be inviting her, along, this year, (also incl. on this email list).

So, if anyone has any info on these 5 class members, or memories to share about Lewis Ross, please be sure to let me, Mary, or Peggy know.

Teachers/Faculty: Announcements have been sent out to our revered teachers, whose few addresses I have on file: Vicki Sinclair (2nd Grade), Melvin [and Evelyn] Williams, (8th Grade Math), and Jim Schutte (HS History). If anyone has any email, numbers, or addresses for any of our other teachers/faculty, please email me, ie., Mr. Cox, Mr. Hannigan, Mr. Webb, Mrs Goodwin, et.al. No one is intentionally omitted. (This is my first year, doing this, please forgive).

Finally, our new and improved class lists will be submitted to Laura Ann Feezel, this week, via US Mail, so she can get your tickets to you. We apologize to anyone who has been inadvertently omitted from any previous correspondence. Be assured, it was totally unintentional. We love you all, and are wholeheartedly trying to connect/re-connect with everyone from our combined classes.

Hope to see you all at the reunion(s). Any and all feedback, welcome!

Shout out to:
- Daryl Calvert-Reed (from the Avena Twnshp Park Board, and Owner/Proprieto, Daryl's Dine-In), and also Ronnie Hinton, (for coming up with the combined reunion idea,) and providing use of her [Daryl's] establishment on Sunday, and all her undying love, support, daily posts on FB, & and best of all, most embarrassing moments!
- Mary [Flowers] Martin - and the Class of '76 Committee - contact labels and planning of the July 30th Reunion Event
- Charlie Durbin and Linda [Dial] Hubbart - cumulative contact lists for the Class of '75
- Kari Koonce-Beasley (Class of '85) - of "Yipesonline.com" - contacts, info, and support
- Northway Photo for their vintage photos used in the mailing(s)
- Cyndie Hough Otto - contacts and support
- Barry Coughlin (Class of '81) - for sharing his yearbook scans & comments on the St. Elmo Class Reunions Facebook Page.
- Phyllis [Rhodes] Lea (My Sister) - contacts and loving support
- Mom - for her loving support and help w/ addresses, proofreading, and multiple public service announcements via her affiliates: WPMB RADIO, The St. Elmo Banner and the Devonian Newspapers.
- Scott Edmonds [and famil]y (Chicago and Carlinville, IL), for their generous financial support, (labels, cards, stamps, search engine fees, transportation, et. al.), and undying moral support
- Gerald Spencer - direction, understanding my inexcusable absence from correspondence, coffee, and undying support
- Everyone who's helped me on Facebook.
- Anyone I've forgotten to mention, who's been instrumental in helping us pull this all together.

(And you thought I did this all by myself).

Luv U Guys!

48th Ward Ring 0'Fire

Had a nice E-conversation with Phil Bernstein (48th Ward Independent Candidate), this morning, extending an invitation to come speak before our Precinct Block. His opp, Harry Osterman is coming 2nite with his dog & pony show. Our Ward is the definitive textbook example of corruption in city politics. And change will only come via our Independent thinkers and candidates. . .

PB:
Thanks very much for extending me the invitation. I most definitely would like to take you up on it. I'll phone you to discuss times that would be convenient to you and your board, as well as maximizing the number of persons who would attend.

S:
We are a 541-unit high rise, right on Hollywood Beach, and would be most impacted by the narcissistic and unnecessary landfill extension, the ECC and Edgewater czars are trying to get pushed through, behind our backs.
PB:
Relative to landfill expansion, I guarantee you Mr. Osterman will not give you a straight answer in opposition to it. Why, he is beholden to those insiders you reference below. Further, ask him why he neglected to attend the 200+ citizen meeting on this project at the Armory, instead going to the ASCO meeting and listening to 6 people there (all of whom favor the project).

S:
. . . I'd also like to know how he's (Osterman) planning to manage 2 paid (conflicting) positions, if elected???
PB:
Regarding that double dipping, what I find absolutely infuriating is that he knew months ago that Smith was not running. And by extension, he knew that he was going to run for alderman. So, instead of doing the classy thing and dropping out of the State Rep race and allowing the citizens to actually compete for the job, he went forward so that he could collect his salary and fund his campaign for alderman accordingly. With that methodology, he sets the stage for an insider ward political party pick to succeed him, just like he got the job for the first time. Thats how these ingrained political insiders in this ward keep perpetuating themselves. People need to wise up, and thats where I come in.

Miguel del Valle For Mayor

Endorsing Miguel del Valle for Mayor. He has the most progressive record and is the only candidate running I can say will stop runaway spending and oppose the old-guard who created our $5-billion state budget deficit!
